Whether you are planning a new bathroom design or just to make the existing bathroom more comfortable, roomy, updated and functional to fit your family needs; there are many parts of a complete bathroom that needs to be considered that may include:

    · Bathroom Entrance / Door – Consider the height, width, the

threshold of the doorway as well as the door handle or knob style.

    · Bathroom Fixtures – This may include the toilet style and shape, toilet height above bathroom floor, sink access, single handle or lever style of faucet, vanity styles, countertop surfaces such as solid, marble or laminate, light fixtures, blending valves, shower heads and air chambers for the bathroom install etc.

    · Bathtub Types and Sizes – There are many tub styles to consider which may include building and designing a bathtub enclosure, drop-in bathtubs, above ground tubs, jacuzzi tubs, whirlpool tubs, round, square, rectangular etc.

    · Shower styles – there are many designs to choose from including a custom shower design. Showers may be built to accommodate more than 1 person at one time. Shower seats can be installed and multiple massage shower head stations as some examples.

    · Bath Floor Covering – Many bathroom floors today use vinyl flooring as the most common choice and its ease to clean. However, there are many flooring choices such as ceramic, marble, stone, carpet, wood and tiles.

Regardless which bathroom flooring you choose for your home, this author suggests you look for a non-slip surface texture.

    · Interior Clearances and Grab Bars – This needs to be addressed if your bathroom needs to accommodate any handicapped or wheelchair bound family members and or visitors. The entrance, maneuverability to accessibility to the bathroom toilet, sink, tub and shower will also need to be custom designed to suit your special needs. I professional bathroom designer will be able to draft the proper measurements, layout and design based upon your specific needs.

    · Grab Bars - These are great for safety, especially in a bathroom where many slip and fall accidents occur. Grab bars make the bathroom safer. Places to install grab bars may include on the wall behind the toilet, inside the bathtub and shower.
